I Joined the 1st Battalion the Kings Regiment in April 1987, and my first overseas posting was Berlin in 1988. Following this, I spent just over 2 years’ in Northern Ireland and obtained promotion to LCpl and a team commander. In 1993 I was posted to London on public duties including positions such as Buckingham Palace, Tower of London and Windsor. One of the benefits of a military life is the opportunities to train, in 1995 I was posted to ITC Catterick as a training Corporal the infantry basic training depot and was there for two years training recruits to become infantry soldiers. I also enjoyed the opportunity to travel and serve including places such as Cyprus, Bosnia, Belize Brunei and Canada along with two major tours of Iraq telic 2 in 2003 and telic 9 in 2007. I also returned from there playing a major part in setting up Shackleton platoon which helped injured soldiers back on their feet. My last three years was spent recruiting for the Army. Leaving the army in 2011 as a Colour Sergeant.
