1) Future for Heroes

Future for Heroes work with individuals from the Army, Navy and Air Force who have just left the forces and struggle to re-adjust to life as a civilian leading to lack of direction or poor choices. They offer a positive approach and in addition to this, work with these individuals to help them shape their future.

Future for Heroes offer a residential course where they will look at their options and help them adapt to change. Furthermore, they look at coping mechanisms for stress as well as their skills and qualities gained during their military career. 2) Building Heroes

Building Heroes are an organisation who offer a free intense 5-week training course for Veterans as well as those in resettlement, wanting to pursue a career in the construction industry or property maintenance.

Your training will include the following elements:

  • Health safety and welfare in construction, including CSCS training and examination
  • Brickwork, blockwork, rendering, plastering
  • Painting and decorating, tiling
  • Domestic plumbing
  • Asbestos Awareness (either classroom or on-line learning and test)
  • Carpentry/joinery
  • Routine maintenance tasks (eg locks, guttering)

3) British Forces Resettlement Services

British Forces Resettlement Services is a social enterprise providing a focal point where the Armed Forces can search for online courses available within their area. These courses include apprenticeships, degrees, online courses as well as on the job courses for over 60 skills or trades.

They also have an events calendar section where you can see any recruitment fairs, programmes or insight days that may be of interest for you.

4) Turn to Starboard

Turn to Starboard support serving Armed Forces personnel in addition to retired Armed Forces personnel who have been affected by military operations.

They hold a range of different courses some of them include:

  • Volunteer opportunities

Three Kings Security & Training offers a range of courses for Veterans who have just come out of the Armed Forces and want to pursue a career in H&S training, Security training or Medical training.

9) FDM Ex-Forces Programme

The FDM Ex-Forces Programme is for Veterans or people still in the forces. Veterans come out of the Armed Forces with many transferable skills ranging from adaptability and maturity through to responsibility and leadership.
